Los Angeles, CA (March 17, 2024) – A tragic incident unfolded on the I-10 Freeway in the University Park area on Sunday, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The crash, which occurred in the westbound lanes near the Hoover Street ramps around 3 p.m., involved a severe collision between two vehicles.
Victims and Injuries: One person in the collision, identified as 26-year-old Jordy Martin Recinos, was declared dead at the scene. The Los Angeles Fire Department worked to extricate an adult trapped in the wreckage, highlighting the violent nature of the crash. Five individuals, including four boys aged 3 months, 6, 7, and 10, along with a 29-year-old woman, were hospitalized with serious-to-critical conditions. Additionally, paramedics treated one person at the scene who did not require hospital transport.
Crash Details: Aerial footage captured showed a severely damaged pickup truck overturned and resting on the front end of what appeared to be a Tesla, surrounded by debris. The specific circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
