Oildale, CA (July 26, 2025) – Authorities have identified John Edward Loveall IV as the man killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in Oildale.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. near Roberts Lane and McCray Street. According to CHP, Loveall was struck by a dark-colored sedan while walking near the intersection. The vehicle fled the scene.
Later that day, investigators located a car believed to be involved.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP is continuing to inspect the recovered vehicle and has not yet made an arrest. Hit-and-run collisions can result in both criminal charges and civil liability. The victim’s family may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim once fault is confirmed.
