Sherman, TX (August 21, 2025) – Two people were killed early Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle crash involving three semi-trucks and two cars on southbound US-75, just south of FM-691.
Accident Details: The crash occurred in a construction zone when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a car, sparking a fire. One of the cars became trapped under a semi-truck, and tow trucks worked through the morning to remove it. Janet Phillips, 51, and Lawrence Anderson, 20, were in one of the cars. They died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will work to piece together how this chain-reaction crash unfolded. They will examine whether lane reductions, signage, or reduced speeds were clearly marked in the area.
Police say the crash began when a tractor-trailer struck a car from behind. Investigators will review speed, following distance, and driver attentiveness at the time of impact. Black box data from the semis and physical evidence, such as skid marks, will be crucial in reconstructing the sequence of collisions.
I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of Janet Phillips and Lawrence Anderson.
