Dooly County, GA (April 17, 2025) – Three people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon following a five-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 75 in Dooly County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around noon near mile marker 117 on northbound I-75. GSP reports that an International tractor-trailer traveling in the outside lane rear-ended a Volkswagen towing a camper. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to veer across the middle and inside lanes, where it struck a Honda CR-V and a Toyota Highlander. The semi then reentered the middle lane and collided with another tractor-trailer.
Three individuals were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. All five vehicles—including the two tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles—were damaged in the collision. The crash caused a temporary shutdown of the northbound lanes of I-75.
Legal Considerations: Multi-vehicle crashes involving commercial trucks typically raise questions about following distance, driver attentiveness, and lane control. GSP investigators will likely examine whether the initial rear-end collision was due to distracted driving or failure to brake in time. The trucking company may also face liability depending on the outcome of the investigation.
Those injured in the crash may have grounds to pursue personal injury claims to recover medical expenses and other related losses.
Ongoing Investigation: Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. No citations or fault determinations have been announced. Updates are expected as officials complete interviews and review vehicle data.
I hope all those injured in the collision make a swift and full recovery.
