MOHAWK, Tenn. — A crash involving two semi-trucks and two passenger vehicles left one person injured Sunday afternoon. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 2:23 p.m. on Interstate 81 northbound in Greene County.
Incident details show that a Freightliner from New Jersey, driven by Avaliani Giorgi, 35, struck the rear of another Freightliner that was stopped on the shoulder. Debris from the impact hit two additional vehicles, a Mercedes E35 and a Ford Explorer, both traveling northbound. Giorgi was injured in the collision and charged with due care.
The investigation remains ongoing. As of 5:51 p.m. Sunday, the northbound right lane and shoulder were still closed, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s SmartWay Map.
