San Jose, CA (February 8, 2024) – Tragedy struck in East San Jose as a woman critically injured by a garbage truck earlier this year has passed away after a prolonged battle with her injuries.
Incident Details: The accident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on February 8, at the intersection of South White and Tully roads. Gaena Todd, 49, of San Jose, was crossing South White Road when she was struck by a gray 2008 Peterbilt garbage truck. The truck was making a right-hand turn from northbound South White Road onto eastbound Tully Road at the time of the incident. Todd was transported to a local hospital in critical condition following the accident. Despite extensive medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and died on Thursday, nearly four months after the collision.
Investigation and Legal Implications: The driver of the garbage truck remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities. San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay, who provided details about the incident, confirmed that an investigation was conducted. Based on the information available, the family of the victim may benefit from speaking with a wrongful death lawyer about their loss.
My thoughts are with the family and friends of Gaena Todd during this incredibly difficult time. I hope that they receive the support that they need following this tragic accident.
