Four People Seriously Injured and One Dead in Head-On Collision Near Oakdale, CA

Modesto, CA (February 19, 2026) – Four individuals in a Tesla, identified as Allen Carey (28), Serenity Bloom (24), Caleb Saenz (26), and Danielle Carey (28), suffered major injuries in a head-on collision caused by a Subaru sedan that crossed over the solid double yellow lines on State Route 108/120 near Oakdale. The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene.

Incident Details: On Thursday, February 19, 2026, a crash occurred around 2:56 p.m. when a gray 2013 Subaru sedan heading west crossed over the solid double yellow lines on State Route 108/120 near Oakdale and collided head-on with a 2019 Tesla sedan.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the 48-year-old woman driving the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.

The Tesla’s driver, Allen Carey, and three passengers, Serenity Bloom, Caleb Saenz, and Danielle Carey, suffered major injuries. All were transported to the hospital. The CHP indicated that everyone involved was wearing seatbelts.

The CHP said it is unknown at this time if DUI was a factor in the crash.

Investigation: The CHP is continuing to investigate the head-on collision on State Route 108/120 near Oakdale. Because the Subaru reportedly crossed over solid double yellow lines before striking the Tesla, investigators will focus on determining why the vehicle entered the opposing lane. This may include reviewing crash scene evidence, vehicle damage patterns, skid marks, and the final resting positions of both cars. CHP may also evaluate whether speed, distraction, a medical emergency, mechanical failure, or impairment played a role. Toxicology testing and witness statements will likely be key in establishing the full cause of the crash.

Legal Considerations: Head-on collisions caused by lane departures often result in significant liability, particularly when one vehicle crosses a solid double yellow line into oncoming traffic. If investigators confirm the Subaru driver was responsible for crossing into the opposing lane, the injured Tesla occupants may have personal injury claims against the at-fault driver’s estate and applicable insurance coverage. These claims could seek compensation for medical expenses, long-term rehabilitation, lost wages, diminished earning capacity, and pain and suffering.

Because the at-fault driver died in the crash, any civil claim would typically proceed against the driver’s estate and insurance policy. The outcome will ultimately depend on what the investigation reveals about fault and contributing factors.

I extend my condolences to the family of the deceased driver and wish a full and steady recovery to Allen Carey, Serenity Bloom, Caleb Saenz, and Danielle Carey as they heal from this serious crash.
