Palm Desert, CA (February 4, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 near Washington Street claimed the lives of Fabian Zamora, 31, of Indio, and Carolina Navarrete De Leal, 49, of Coachella, on Tuesday afternoon.
Accident Details: According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. near mile marker 49. A white Toyota, traveling westbound in the second lane, suddenly veered to the right and collided with a blue semi-truck and trailer. The Toyota then collided with a red disabled semi-truck on the shoulder. The blue semi-truck struck a tire repair truck parked in front of the disabled semi.
Both Zamora, the repair driver, and Navarrete De Leal, the driver of the white Toyota, were pronounced dead at the scene. The collision caused significant traffic delays for hours.
