El Paso, TX (April 8, 2025) — A 30-year-old escort officer was hospitalized with a leg injury on Friday after a semi-truck crashed into a funeral procession in El Paso’s Lower Valley.
Incident Details: The crash occurred near Loop 375, between Pan American Drive and South Americas Avenue. According to the El Paso Police Department, the escort officer, who is not affiliated with EPPD, was assisting the funeral procession when the semi-truck struck him.
Emergency responders transported the injured officer to a nearby hospital. His current condition remains unknown, and police have not confirmed whether the truck driver will face any charges.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are still investigating the crash. Key legal questions may include whether the truck driver failed to yield to the procession, was distracted, or violated other traffic codes or regulations.
If the driver is found at fault, they may face a personal injury claim for the injuries sustained by the officer. This claim can assist with medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
My thoughts are with the injured officer and his loved ones as he recovers from this incident.
