Incident Details: The fatal collision occurred around 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, on westbound State Route 54 near the Briarwood Road off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, Montanez, a 35-year-old resident of San Diego, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control and collided with a center divider. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Montanez dead from his injuries.
