CORONA, CA (October 20, 2025) — Authorities have identified 48-year-old Edgar Flores of Perris as the motorcyclist who lost his life in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on Cajalco Road in Corona. The collision drew a major response from emergency crews and law enforcement, leading to a full road closure while investigators examined the scene.
Accident Details: The California Highway Patrol received reports of the crash around 8:45 p.m. on Cajalco Road, approximately two miles east of Eagle Canyon Road. A motorcycle and a black sedan collided in what witnesses described as a severe impact.
One of the vehicles left the roadway and landed roughly 300 feet down a canyon. Officials have not confirmed whether it was the motorcycle or the sedan that went off the edge.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes and found both vehicles with significant damage. Despite efforts from paramedics, Edgar Flores was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver’s name and condition have not been released.
Authorities shut down Cajalco Road between Temescal Canyon Road and La Sierra Avenue for several hours while tow crews worked to remove the vehicles and investigators collected evidence.
Residents in the surrounding area reported seeing emergency lights throughout the night as traffic was diverted from the crash zone. The stretch of Cajalco Road where the collision occurred is known for its sharp turns and steep drop-offs, which have contributed to several serious wrecks in past years.
Investigation: The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Officers are reviewing witness accounts, roadway markings, and physical evidence from the vehicles. Investigators are also assessing whether driver distraction, speed, or low visibility may have been involved.
Traffic investigators will continue gathering data, including measurements of skid marks, debris distribution, and roadway slope. That information will help determine how the vehicles collided and why one left the roadway.
The department has not yet indicated whether impairment is suspected. Once findings are finalized, they will be forwarded to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office for review.
Legal Considerations: When a motorcycle rider is killed in a crash, families are left to manage funeral costs, medical bills, and the loss of companionship or income. California law allows next of kin to pursue wrongful death claims related to these damages when another driver’s negligence is identified as a factor.
A detailed investigation can reveal whether unsafe speed, lane violations, or other traffic errors contributed to a fatal crash. Police reports and crash reconstruction findings play an important role in determining liability and identifying who may bear responsibility.
Our thoughts go out to the loved ones of Edgar Flores. May they find strength and support from their community as they process this tragic loss.
