Saratoga Springs, NY (August 7, 2025) — A serious crash on Thursday afternoon left one person trapped when a dump truck loaded with asphalt overturned onto a minivan in Saratoga Springs.
Incident Details: According to the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, the collision happened at approximately 1:43 p.m. on Union Avenue. Firefighters arrived within five minutes to find the minivan pinned beneath the truck, with one occupant trapped inside. Multiple agencies, including Saratoga Springs Police, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, the Saratoga County Department of Public Works, and KJ Stearns Heavy Wrecker, assisted in the rescue effort. Crews worked for roughly 40 minutes before freeing the individual at 2:23 p.m. The occupant was conscious and alert when airlifted by LifeNet of New York for further medical care. Two dogs inside the minivan, secured in crates, were also safely removed and evaluated by Animal Control.
Investigation and Safety Considerations: Authorities have not released details on what caused the dump truck to overturn. Investigators will likely examine factors such as vehicle speed, load weight, mechanical condition, and road conditions at the time of the crash. The collision caused significant disruptions on Union Avenue while crews worked to clear the scene.
