Tulare County, CA (April 22, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning near Tipton in Tulare County left one driver dead and another with moderate injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Accident Details: The crash occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Road 96 and Avenue 160. CHP investigators report that a Chevrolet sedan was traveling southbound on Road 96 when a GMC truck, heading northbound, attempted to make a left turn onto Avenue 160.
The GMC truck turned directly into the path of the oncoming Chevrolet, causing a severe collision in the intersection. The driver of the Chevrolet sedan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the GMC truck suffered moderate injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have been factors in the crash.
Legal Considerations: In cases where a driver turns left into the path of oncoming traffic, liability typically falls on the turning driver, especially if they fail to yield the right-of-way. If the investigation confirms this, the family of the deceased driver may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim against the GMC driver.
