Driver Arrested After Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Golf Cart Injures Two in Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake, CA (May 10, 2025) — Two women were hospitalized with injuries following a hit-and-run collision involving a golf cart Saturday evening in Canyon Lake. Authorities arrested the suspected driver, 44-year-old Misty Farrand, two days later on felony hit-and-run charges.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on May 10 near Canyon Lake Drive and Gray Fox Drive. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Farrand was driving a black Kia SUV southbound when she rear-ended a golf cart heading in the same direction. Instead of stopping to assist, Farrand allegedly fled the scene.

The Canyon Lake Fire Department treated two adult women in the golf cart at the scene and transported them to a local hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. Thanks to witness accounts, investigators were able to identify and locate Farrand. She was arrested on Monday and booked for felony hit and run, then released the same day on $25,000 bail.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigation continues, and authorities will likely review evidence, including surveillance footage, witness statements, and vehicle damage, to determine whether additional charges, such as reckless driving or driving under the influence, might apply.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the injured women may be entitled to pursue personal injury claims to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional distress.

I wish both injured women a smooth and full recovery.
