Long Beach, CA (June 9, 2024) – On June 9, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., David Saltman, 39, tragically lost his life after being struck by three vehicles on East Pacific Coast Highway, near Molino Avenue, in Long Beach.
Accident Details: Reports indicate that Saltman was crossing the highway outside of a crosswalk when an unidentified motorist collided with him and then fled the scene. Moments later, Saltman was hit by a 2017 Kia Sportage. The driver of the Kia stopped and called 911. While waiting for the authorities, a white truck hit Saltman and dragged him east of Molino Avenue. The driver of the truck also fled the scene. According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner and the Long Beach Police Department, Saltman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation: The Kia driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The Long Beach police urge anyone with information about this deadly accident to contact them at 562-570-5130. While the second driver stopped and called 911, their actions prior to the collision need to be scrutinized. It is essential to determine whether the driver was attentive, adhering to the speed limit, and had adequate time to react and avoid the pedestrian.
