Dade City, FL (May 20, 2025) – A 57-year-old Dade City woman tragically lost her life Monday morning in a collision with a tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: Authorities say the crash happened around 7:40 a.m. near the intersection of US 301 and Payne Road. The woman, driving a sedan, attempted to make a left turn onto Payne Road when she traveled into the path of an oncoming semi-truck traveling northbound on US 301. The front of the semi struck the driver’s side of the woman’s car. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, a 59-year-old man from Dade City, was not injured.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. There is currently no indication that impairment or excessive speed were factors in the collision. Investigators will assess whether road conditions or visibility may have contributed to the fatal turn.

We extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this time of loss.
