West Township, OH (October 11, 2025) – One person was killed and two others were injured after a rollover crash involving a semi-truck and an SUV on State Route 172 near Zepernick Lake, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Accident Details: Troopers said the collision happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday on SR-172 in West Township. A semi-truck veered off the roadway, overcorrected, and crossed the center line, where it struck a Ford Bronco traveling in the opposite direction. Both vehicles left the roadway and rolled over. The Bronco’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bronco’s passenger and the semi-truck driver were transported to a Canton hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Investigators said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors. The crash prompted an extended closure as first responders stabilized the scene, coordinated medical transport, and arranged for vehicle recovery.
Investigation: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reconstructing the crash to determine why the semi initially left the roadway and how the subsequent overcorrection led to the head-on impact. Investigators are examining tire marks, vehicle damage, and roadway conditions, and will review any available witness statements or nearby video sources. The identity of the deceased will be released after family notifications are complete.
