San Diego, CA (July 6, 2025) – A 43-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man suffered serious injuries Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in the Teralta West area of San Diego, according to police.
Accident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 5:06 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, at the intersection of 42nd Street and Orange Avenue. According to San Diego Police Officer J. Perales, the two pedestrians were crossing Orange Avenue within the crosswalk, heading from the north sidewalk to the south side, when they were hit by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 19-year-old woman traveling northbound on 42nd Street.
The woman sustained a broken pelvis and pain in her legs and back. The man suffered head trauma and pain in his neck. Both were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Police stated that alcohol does not appear to be a factor. It is still unclear what caused the collision.
