Bryan Adán Cruz muere atropellado en la autopista 99

Bakersfield, CA (May 31, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run accident early in the morning on Highway 99 resulted in the death of a pedestrian, authorities reported. The deceased has been identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 29-year-old Bryan Adan Cruz from Boron.

Incident Details: At approximately 1:38 a.m. on May 31, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to a distress call regarding a pedestrian found on the right shoulder of northbound Highway 99, just north of Lerdo Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered Cruz critically injured. Initial reports indicate that Cruz was walking north in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 when he was struck by a vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver involved did not stop and has yet to be identified. The lack of immediate information about the vehicle or the circumstances that led to the accident has hampered the investigation.

Call for Witnesses and Legal Implications: CHP is actively seeking assistance from the public. Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has any information related to the hit-and-run is urged to contact the Bakersfield CHP Office at (661) 396-6600. Your information could be crucial in solving this case and bringing closure to the victim’s family. If the driver responsible is found, the family of the victim could choose to pursue a wrongful death claim for the loss of their loved one.

My thoughts are with the family and friends of Bryan Adan Cruz during this extremely difficult time. I hope that the driver responsible is apprehended quickly.
