Brandy Jackson Succumbs to Injuries Following Long Beach Hit-and-Run

LONG BEACH, CA (November 28, 2025) — Long Beach police announced Thursday that a woman injured in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month has died from her injuries. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Brandy Jackson.

Accident Details: At 12:28 a.m. on November 13, officers responded to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Maine Avenue regarding a traffic collision involving Jackson and a vehicle, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

A vehicle struck Jackson in the roadway. Following the collision, the vehicle fled the scene. The LBPD was notified of Jackson’s death on Tuesday.

Investigation: The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the hit-and-run crash. Suspect and suspect vehicle information remain under investigation, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is urged to contact police at 562-570-7355. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.

Legal Considerations: Hit-and-run crashes where victims initially survive but later die from their injuries present heartbreaking scenarios for families who held hope during the victim’s hospitalization. The driver’s decision to flee denied Jackson immediate assistance that could have improved her chances of survival.

California Vehicle Code Section 20001 makes it a felony to leave the scene of a crash causing injury or death. When a victim dies from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run, the driver faces vehicular manslaughter charges in addition to hit-and-run charges, resulting in significant prison time if convicted.

The lack of information about the suspect vehicle makes the investigation more difficult. Without witness descriptions or surveillance footage, police must rely on community tips and forensic evidence such as vehicle parts left at the scene to identify the responsible party.

Families of hit-and-run victims face additional hardship when the driver remains unidentified. While criminal charges await if the driver is found, families may need to explore uninsured motorist coverage through their own insurance policies to address medical bills, funeral costs, and other losses until the driver is located.

We offer our sympathies to those mourning the loss of Brandy Jackson.
