Pierre Part, Louisiana (December 10, 2025) — Authorities have identified Blake Landry, 43, of Pierre Part, as the man who died following a head-on collision Wednesday morning on Louisiana Highway 70 in Assumption Parish. The crash also left another driver seriously injured.
Incident Details: According to Assumption Parish deputies, the collision occurred around 6:33 a.m. along La. 70 near Leonie Street and Veteran’s Park. Investigators said a pickup truck and a commercial box truck collided head-on under circumstances that have not yet been fully explained.
Landry, who was driving the pickup truck, was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries. The driver of the box truck sustained serious injuries and was taken to an out-of-area hospital for treatment. Their identity has not been released.
Investigation: Louisiana State Police Troop C is leading the investigation into the crash. Troopers will examine roadway evidence, including skid marks, debris fields, and vehicle damage, to determine how the vehicles came into opposing lanes.
In head-on collisions involving commercial vehicles, investigators typically analyze vehicle speeds, lane positioning, and whether either driver lost control or failed to maintain their lane. They may also review dashcam or nearby surveillance footage, assess lighting and visibility conditions along the highway, and inspect both vehicles for mechanical issues that could have contributed to the crash.
Because the collision occurred during early morning hours, investigators will also consider factors such as driver fatigue, visibility, and traffic conditions at the time. A thorough reconstruction will be crucial to determining what happened and why.
Legal Considerations: Head-on crashes are among the most severe roadway collisions and often raise serious questions of negligence. Under Louisiana law, drivers are required to remain in their designated lanes and operate their vehicles with reasonable care. When a commercial vehicle is involved, additional responsibilities apply due to its size, weight, and stopping distance.
For the family of Blake Landry, the loss is devastating. He was transported in hopes of survival, only to succumb to his injuries later, a reality that compounds the trauma for loved ones waiting for answers. A wrongful death claim may help compensate the family for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional pain that follows such a sudden loss. While no legal process can undo what occurred, accountability can help the family through the difficult road ahead.
I extend my deepest condolences to Blake’s family and loved ones.
