Bancroft Township, MN (March 19, 2025) – A crash involving a semi-truck and a straight truck on Interstate 35 Wednesday morning left one driver injured.
Incident Details: According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred at 10:21 a.m. near mile marker 16 when a southbound 2024 Volvo semi, driven by Bakar Oniani, 34, of Brooklyn, New York, collided with a southbound 2016 Freightliner truck, driven by Jared Allen Besser, 44, of Clarks Grove. Oniani sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Albert Lea for treatment. Besser was uninjured.
Emergency responders, including the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Clarks Grove Fire Department, and Mayo Ambulance, assisted at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Collisions involving commercial trucks often raise questions about driver fatigue, road conditions, and potential vehicle malfunctions. Investigators will likely assess whether distracted driving, speed, or mechanical failure played a role. If negligence is found, the injured driver may have grounds for a personal injury claim to recover damages for medical expenses and lost wages.
I hope for a full recovery for Bakar Oniani.
