Sherman Oaks, California (January 27, 2026) — An 80-year-old man and his dog were killed late Tuesday night in a hit-and-run collision in Sherman Oaks after a luxury sedan allegedly swerved into a bike lane and struck them before fleeing the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim was identified by family members as Andriy Korshunov, who was walking his dog along Woodman Avenue at the time of the crash.
Incident Details: The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. along Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks. Police said Korshunov and his dog were walking in the bike lane when a Maserati Quattroporte traveling along the roadway swerved and struck them.
The dog was pronounced dead at the scene. Korshunov was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but despite emergency medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver did not stop to render aid and fled the area immediately following the collision.
Officers later located the suspected vehicle, a Maserati Quattroporte, abandoned several blocks away at the intersection of Mammoth Avenue and Milbank Street. Korshunov’s daughter, Ilana Ceitlin, spoke emotionally about her father’s death, describing him as a Holocaust survivor who endured immense hardship before losing his life in what should have been a quiet residential neighborhood. “He didn’t help him… He killed two souls,” she said.
