PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD (July 8, 2025) – A crash involving a sedan and a dump truck critically injured one person and sent a child to the hospital Tuesday morning in Prince George’s County, according to local officials.
Accident Details: The collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Dallas Place and Pohanka Place on St. Barnabas Road. Authorities say a sedan and a dump truck collided, leading to serious injuries for the car’s occupants.
The adult driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A child passenger in the car was also hospitalized but is expected to survive, as their injuries were not life-threatening. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Emergency crews closed St. Barnabas Road in both directions to investigate the crash and clear the scene. Police have not yet released the identities of those involved.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating the crash. In incidents involving commercial trucks, authorities often review factors such as right of way, driver attentiveness, speed, and vehicle maintenance. Dump trucks, due to their size and limited maneuverability, are subject to specific safety regulations that may be reviewed as part of the investigation.
When collisions involve children and result in critical injuries, the legal implications can be significant, especially if negligence or improper operation is found.
We send our thoughts and best wishes to both the adult and child injured in this crash and hope for their full recovery.
