King and Queen County, VA (March 20, 2025) – An EMT driver was killed Thursday morning after a dump truck pulled in front of an ambulance on Route 360, causing a deadly collision.
Incident Details: According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), the crash occurred at 6:50 a.m. when the dump truck attempted to use a crossover, pulling directly into the path of the ambulance. The impact was severe, and the ambulance driver died at the scene.
A passenger inside the ambulance was transported to the hospital, but the vehicle was not responding to a call and did not have a patient on board. The dump truck driver was also hospitalized with injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Crashes involving emergency vehicles and commercial trucks often raise questions about driver awareness, right-of-way violations, and road safety regulations. Investigators will likely assess whether the dump truck driver failed to yield or if visibility played a role in the crash. If negligence is determined, the victim’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek justice and compensation.
My deepest condolences go out to the family and colleagues of the EMT driver.
