One Killed in I-70 Crash Between Two Semi-Trucks in Utah

Emery County, UT (July 8, 2025) – One person was killed Tuesday in a crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 70 in eastern Utah, authorities said.

Accident Details: According to the Utah Highway Patrol, one semi-truck rear-ended another in a construction zone near the Ghost Rocks rest area in Emery County. The driver of the rear-ending truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The other truck driver was not injured. Eastbound lanes were closed for hours following the collision.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are continuing to investigate whether speed, inattention, or failure to reduce speed in a work zone played a role. In Utah, families of those killed in commercial truck crashes may have grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit if safety violations or negligence are involved.

I extend my deepest sympathies to the family of the individual who lost their life in this crash.
