Valley Center, CA (April 17, 2025) – Elias Arenas, a 25-year-old Escondido man, was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash near Valley View Casino late Thursday night. Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal collision.
Accident Details: The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 2800 block of North Lake Wohlford Road. Elias Arenas and his girlfriend were walking along the road when an SUV hit them from behind. Arenas was transported to the hospital but tragically died shortly after arrival. There has been no public update on his girlfriend’s condition.
The vehicle, identified as a white Chevrolet Equinox, fled the scene. California Highway Patrol officials launched an investigation and identified and arrested 27-year-old Nolan Deskovick as the suspected driver the following morning. He was taken into custody and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Charges include felony vehicular homicide, DUI, and hit-and-run.
Authorities continue asking witnesses or anyone with video footage to contact CHP Oceanside.
