DUI-Related ATV Crash in Alta Sierra Injures 22-Year-Old Lili Tanisaki

Alta Sierra, CA (June 6, 2024) – Resident of Half Moon Bay Lili Tanisaki was ejected from an ATV vehicle in a DUI-related crash late on the night of Thursday, June 6.

Accident Details: Tanisaki was a passenger in the ATV. She was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center after she was ejected from the vehicle. Other occupants suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Investigation: Alta Sierra resident Sophia Garibaldi, the driver, was arrested and charged with felony DUI. The initial investigation also revealed that the ATV users lacked safety equipment.

Negligence: As a personal injury attorney, there are some facts that warrant greater examination. Victims of such accidents often face extensive medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and other financial burdens. Tanisaki and the other injured parties may be entitled to compensation for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages. The investigation must yield evidence of negligence, the failure to take the care a reasonable person in a similar situation would have. Investigators will look to accident photos, police reports, medical records, video surveillance, and toxicology reports to determine the role of negligence in causing the accident. The lack of safety equipment may affect the amount of compensation injured victims can recover. However, California’s comparative negligence laws would not preclude partial compensation of victims.

My thoughts are with Tanisaki and the other injured victims and their families. I wish them a speedy recovery.
