LANCASTER, CA (November 11, 2025) — A 39-year-old woman died Thursday morning in a crash involving a car and a big rig in Lancaster. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Destiny Anthony, who sustained fatal blunt traumatic injuries.
Accident Details: The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that the crash occurred about 6:45 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of 30th Street West and Avenue G. Anthony was driving a white Volkswagen Passat when the collision occurred with a big rig.
Video from the scene showed the obliterated remains of the Volkswagen Passat and a big rig with slight damage to its rear trailer. A witness at the scene told the videographer that the car was dragged sideways by the big rig after the vehicles collided. Anthony became trapped inside her vehicle following the impact.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Anthony was pronounced dead. The big rig driver was not injured in the crash. Crews cleared the scene by 7:16 a.m. Thursday, a fire department spokesman said.
Investigation: Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal collision at the intersection. Based on witness accounts, the Passat and the big rig collided, and the car was then dragged sideways by the truck.
Investigators have not released information about which vehicle had the right-of-way or what caused the initial impact. The extent of damage to the Passat and the positioning of the vehicles suggest a significant force was involved in the collision.
Legal Considerations: Collisions between passenger cars and commercial big rigs frequently result in fatal injuries to occupants of the smaller vehicle due to the enormous size and weight disparity. When a car is dragged by a truck after impact, it indicates the truck driver may not have immediately realized a collision occurred.
Intersection crashes involving commercial trucks require investigation into whether the truck driver had adequate visibility, whether either driver failed to yield the right-of-way, and whether traffic signals were obeyed. Commercial truck drivers are held to higher standards due to their specialized training and the dangerous nature of operating such large vehicles.
Families of victims killed in truck crashes can file wrongful death claims against the truck driver and the trucking company. These claims seek compensation for funeral costs, the victim’s pain and suffering before death, and the loss of financial support and companionship. Trucking companies often have substantial insurance policies to cover such claims.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Destiny Anthony as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss.
