Crash in Boyle Heights Kills Jose Francisco Trevizo and Leaves Two Teens Critically Injured

Boyle Heights, CA (November 14, 2024) – A two-car collision in Boyle Heights on Thursday night tragically claimed the life of 77-year-old Jose Francisco Trevizo and left two teenagers in critical condition.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of East 4th Street and South Fresno Street. Security footage from a nearby auto repair shop captured the accident. A black Mercedes-Benz collided with Trevizo’s Honda sedan as he turned left. The impact killed Trevizo instantly. According to neighbors, Trevizo was just blocks from his home, reportedly returning from his favorite bakery.

The two teens in the Mercedes were critically injured and transported to a hospital. Witnesses at the scene alleged that the Mercedes was speeding, though the Los Angeles Police Department has yet to determine the cause of the crash.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. This accident highlights the dangers of speeding and the severe consequences it can have on everyone involved. Although the investigation is ongoing, liability could play a significant role. If speeding or reckless driving is confirmed, the driver of the Mercedes may face civil liability for Trevizo’s death, and the injured teen in the Mercedes. A wrongful death lawsuit could provide Trevizo’s family with financial support for funeral expenses and emotional suffering.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. I hope they find the strength they need to navigate this difficult time.
