Colquitt County, GA (October 10, 2025) – Nineteen-year-old Kennajia Artheria Jaleah Seay was killed Friday afternoon in a collision involving a semi-truck and a sedan at State Route 35 and State Route 33 in Colquitt County, according to the Georgia State Patrol and the county coroner.
Accident Details: Troopers were dispatched at about 3:50 p.m. to the intersection of SR-35 and SR-33. Investigators said Seay was driving north on SR-35 and began a left turn onto SR-33 as a southbound semi-truck approached on SR-35. The front of the semi struck the passenger side of Seay’s sedan. Following the impact, both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch at the southwest corner of the intersection. Emergency responders attempted aid, but Seay was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner. Officials did not report additional injuries connected to the crash, and the semi-truck driver remained at the scene as authorities worked for several hours to secure the area and coordinate recovery.
Investigation: The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation with support from the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office and Moultrie Police Department. Troopers are analyzing physical evidence from the intersection, including impact points, vehicle rest positions, and roadway markings, to confirm approach paths and timing of the left turn. They are also reviewing lighting and sightlines at the rural junction and will interview witnesses to determine whether speed, right-of-way, or other contributing factors were present. No citations or charges were announced in the initial update, and further details are pending as the reconstruction continues.
Legal Considerations: Fatal collisions involving semi-trucks often require detailed evaluations of driver behavior, visibility, and compliance with state and federal safety rules. Investigators and insurers typically review the truck’s maintenance condition, braking distance, and electronic data, along with scene measurements and witness accounts. Families of those killed in crashes may pursue a wrongful death claim to recover funeral costs, loss of financial support, and other damages if negligence is established. Preserving official reports, photographs, and any available dashcam or roadside camera footage can be critical to determining liability.
This is a heartbreaking loss for Ms. Seay’s family and the Colquitt County community. I extend my deepest condolences to her loved ones.
