Los Angeles, CA (September 26, 2025) – A suspected stolen Lexus pursuit ended in a violent collision at Pico Boulevard and Burlington Avenue on Friday night, injuring an uninvolved motorist and igniting debris at the scene before officers took a fleeing suspect into custody.
Accident Details: Los Angeles police initiated the pursuit after spotting a blue Lexus believed to be stolen on the city’s south side. The driver allegedly weaved across lanes and struck other vehicles on the 10 Freeway before exiting into the Pico-Union neighborhood. The chase culminated when the Lexus slammed into an unrelated vehicle at the intersection, crumpling both cars. A tire separated and caught fire, which officers quickly extinguished. Good Samaritans helped the injured motorist to the curb, and paramedics transported her to a hospital with injuries described as minor.
Investigation: Detectives are piecing together the route of the pursuit and analyzing surveillance and aerial footage to document speeds, signal phases, and impacts that occurred before the final crash. Investigators are also evaluating whether the suspect vehicle was tied to other crimes and will review onboard modules and any available video to confirm events. The suspect, described by officials as approximately 30 years old, was apprehended after briefly fleeing into a nearby warehouse.
