Bicyclist Steve De Leon Killed in Cabazon Hit-and-Run

Cabazon, CA (March 9, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run collision claimed the life of Steve De Leon as he was riding his bicycle.

Accident Details: De Leon was riding his bicycle when a vehicle struck him and fled the scene. Emergency responders arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer David Torres emphasized that witness accounts are critical in hit-and-run investigations, as is physical evidence like license plate numbers, vehicle descriptions, and driver characteristics.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Anyone with information is encouraged to contact CHP – San Gorgonio. Leaving the scene of a crash without stopping to provide aid is a violation of California law, as it denies the victim medical attention and demonstrates a lack of accountability. Investigators will examine debris from the vehicle, surveillance footage, and accident reconstruction reports to determine how the crash occurred and identify the suspect. Witness statements, if available, can help pinpoint the vehicle and driver involved, improving the chances of a resolution.

If the driver is found, De Leon’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Steve De Leon during this difficult time.
