Sacramento, CA (May 5, 2025) — A bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning in Sacramento’s Mangan Park neighborhood. The driver fled the scene but was later identified and arrested, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Incident Details: Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:32 a.m. on 24th Street near 32nd Avenue. Authorities found a male bicyclist suffering from severe trauma and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition as of Monday evening.
The vehicle involved fled the scene before police arrived. Later that day, Sacramento police detectives identified and arrested 29-year-old Lamont Jackson in connection with the crash. He is facing charges related to felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Police are still investigating and have not disclosed whether speed, distraction, or impairment were factors in the crash. Surveillance footage, witness statements, and vehicle damage reports will likely be central to the investigation.
Depending on the findings of the investigation, the victim could pursue a personal injury claim to seek compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation, lost wages, and emotional distress.
I wish the injured bicyclist strength and a full recovery as he continues treatment.
