Long Beach, CA (June 14, 2024) – On the morning of June 14, a tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Seventh Street and Bellflower Boulevard in Long Beach, resulting in the death of 42-year-old bicyclist Keith Moore.
Accident Facts: The incident took place in the early morning. Moore was riding his bike east on Seventh Street. In the same lane, the vehicle behind him struck Moore from behind. Officers arrived at the scene to find Moore unconscious on the south sidewalk of Seventh Street. Despite their efforts, Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the authorities. The police do not believe speed, distracted driving, or impaired driving appear to have contributed to the collision.
Legal Consideration: As a personal injury attorney, I think several aspects of this case warrant examination. The condition of the driver of the vehicle must be examined. Even though police officials have stated that speed, distraction, and impairment are not suspected, it is still important to investigate the driver’s state at the time of the collision. If the driver violated some other traffic law, they may be deemed negligent. The vehicle must also be inspected to ascertain its condition. Maybe it had broken components, such as faulty brakes. If so, the vehicle manufacturer or maintenance provider may be liable. If negligence is proven, Moore’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim.
I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Kieth Moore during this difficult time.
