Campo, CA (June 3, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Campo, resulting in the death of a Ramona man on Monday evening.
Incident Details: The accident took place around 5:45 p.m. on Old Highway 80 near the Golden Acorn Casino in Campo. Bert Gallegos, 54, was riding northbound on his 2022 Harley-Davidson Road Glide when a 2014 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 78-year-old woman from Imperial County, attempted to turn left into a driveway. The car turned directly into Gallegos’s path, leading to a severe collision. The impact threw Gallegos onto the roadway, causing grave injuries. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries at a helicopter landing pad at the casino, where paramedics were preparing to airlift him to a hospital. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Corolla sustained minor injuries in the crash. She remained at the scene and cooperated with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) during the investigation.
