Bernardo Miranda Fatally Struck by Metrolink Train in Northridge

Northridge, CA (July 15, 2024) – Authorities have identified the man fatally struck by a Metrolink train in Northridge early Monday morning as 37-year-old Bernardo Miranda.

Accident Details: The tragic incident occurred just before 5:30 a.m. when Ventura County Line train 100 hit Miranda while he was in a “non-pedestrian area” between the Chatsworth and Northridge stations. Responding officers arrived at the scene on the 19700 block of Bahama Street, where Miranda was pronounced dead.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Given that Bernardo Miranda was in a non-pedestrian area, it’s crucial to investigate how he ended up on the tracks. Was there adequate fencing or signage to prevent pedestrians from accessing the area? Metrolink’s duty to maintain safe environments around their tracks will be a key factor. If it’s determined that Metrolink failed to take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access to the tracks, they may be deemed negligent. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Miranda’s family may be able to file a wrongful death claim to recover compensation for their lost loved one.

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Bernardo Miranda during this difficult time.
