11-Year-Old Girl Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Apple Valley

Apple Valley, CA (July 6, 2025) – An 11-year-old girl was killed and several others were injured in a suspected DUI crash in Apple Valley Friday night, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Accident Details: The collision occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, near the intersection of Central and Pah-Ute roads. Authorities say a white Chevy Suburban traveling northbound on Central Road crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed into a red Chevy Traverse carrying a family. The crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles.

The 11-year-old girl, who was sitting in the rear of the Traverse, died at the scene. Multiple other passengers in the Traverse suffered moderate to major injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the Suburban was also injured and taken to a trauma center.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Suburban’s driver, 41-year-old Dennis Forbes of Apple Valley, was arrested at the hospital on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Authorities say alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash. Formal charges are expected following further investigation.

In California, DUI collisions that result in death or serious injury can carry severe criminal penalties. Additionally, families of victims may pursue civil claims for wrongful death or personal injury when impaired driving is involved.

I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the loved ones of the young girl who lost her life and to all others injured in this devastating crash.
