Ancelmo Sanchez and Luis Lopez Killed in Moreno Valley Two-Vehicle Crash

Moreno Valley, CA (January 24, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle crash in Moreno Valley last Friday claimed the lives of 39-year-old Ancelmo Sanchez of Perris and 31-year-old Luis Lopez of Moreno Valley.

Accident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 11:07 a.m. at the intersection of Ironwood Avenue and Heacock Street. According to authorities, the collision involved an Infiniti and a Mercedes. Sanchez, a passenger in the Mercedes, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers and a passenger from the Infiniti were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The crash’s force pushed the Mercedes into two pedestrians on the sidewalk. Lopez, one of the pedestrians, was taken to Riverside University Health System Medical Center, where he later died. The second pedestrian was not harmed.

Investigation: Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that this tragic incident raises essential questions about liability and accountability. Investigators must determine what caused the initial collision between the Infiniti and the Mercedes. Questions such as whether either driver was speeding, distracted, impaired, or failed to yield the right of way will be critical to understanding the events leading up to the crash. They will also examine the road conditions and whether the Mercedes or Infiniti suffered from a mechanical defect or malfunction.

Depending on the investigator’s findings, the families of Ancelmo Sanchez and Luis Lopez may be able to pursue wrongful death claims against the party responsible for the crash. Additionally, those injured in the crash, may file personal injury claims to recover medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages. If both drivers are found to have contributed to the collision, they could share liability under California’s comparative negligence laws.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families of Ancelmo Sanchez and Luis Lopez during this challenging time. I wish the injured a swift recovery.
