DeSoto Parish, Louisiana (September 6, 2025) — A Carthage man identified as 34-year-old Zapien German was killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer in DeSoto Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 169 near Louisiana 172. Investigators said a tractor-trailer was traveling south on LA-169 as German’s truck was traveling east on LA-172. For reasons still under review, the tractor-trailer entered the intersection and collided with German’s truck. German, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Police noted that impairment is not suspected at this time.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Louisiana State Police are continuing to investigate the crash. Authorities will examine traffic controls, vehicle speeds, and the truck driver’s actions before determining liability.
