South of Yuba City, CA (August 26, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle left one woman dead and another seriously injured Tuesday morning in Sutter County.
Accident Details: The collision occurred near South George Washington Boulevard and Obanion Road, south of South Yuba City. According to the California Highway Patrol, a witness reported seeing a Toyota run the stop sign on Obanion Road before it was struck by a semi-truck hauling double dump trailers. The impact pushed the Toyota into an orchard at the southeast corner of the intersection.
Officers confirmed that the driver of the Toyota, a 31-year-old woman from Sacramento, died at the scene. Her front-seat passenger, a 30-year-old woman also from Sacramento, suffered major injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The victims’ names have not yet been released. No other injuries were reported.
Investigation: CHP is continuing its investigation into the crash. Authorities will review roadway conditions, driver actions, and potential contributing factors, including whether the Toyota failed to yield at the stop sign.
