Mother and Baby Injured After Tractor-Trailer Rear-Ends Vehicles on Woodhaven Road

Philadelphia, PA (March 27, 2025) – A mother and her baby were taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer failed to slow down in heavy traffic and rear-ended a car on Woodhaven Road, according to local authorities.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 3:55 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Woodhaven Road, just east of Millbrook Road, near the Philadelphia–Bucks County line. As traffic slowed near the I-95 approach, a tractor-trailer was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of a Honda Civic. The impact pushed the Civic into a third vehicle.

The mother and child, who were in the Civic, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No injuries were reported from the third vehicle, and the truck driver was unhurt.

Legal Considerations: In multi-vehicle crashes triggered by a rear-end collision, investigators typically review the truck driver’s speed, following distance, and reaction time. Failing to stop for slowed traffic is a common sign of driver inattention or excessive speed. Depending on the findings, the victims may pursue truck accident injury claims for medical expenses and related damages.

Commercial truck drivers are expected to operate with heightened caution in congested traffic. If the investigation confirms negligence, the trucking company could also face liability.

Ongoing Investigation: Authorities have not released the names of those involved or announced any citations. The crash caused temporary traffic disruptions along Woodhaven Road as emergency crews responded to the scene and cleared the vehicles.

I hope the mother and child recover quickly and fully.
