Los Angeles, CA (May 16, 2025) — A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision early Friday morning in the Green Meadows area of South Los Angeles, prompting an active investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Incident Details: The fatal crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Florence and Towne Avenues. According to the LAPD, the woman was crossing the street when an eastbound vehicle struck her and fled the scene without stopping to offer aid or call emergency services. Witnesses at the scene were unable to describe the vehicle.
Emergency personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Detectives will review nearby surveillance footage and seek witness testimony to identify the suspect vehicle and driver.
