Woman Killed in Florence Neighborhood Hit-and-Run

Los Angeles, CA (May 16, 2025) — A female pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning in Los Angeles’ Florence neighborhood, and police are actively searching for the driver responsible, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Incident Details: The fatal collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Towne Avenue and East Florence Avenue. According to witnesses, the woman was crossing the street when she was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene without stopping to render aid. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, where a large white canopy was placed over her body during the investigation.

As of Friday morning, the victim’s identity has not been publicly released, and no description of the suspect vehicle or driver has been provided.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The LAPD continues investigating the crash and will review surveillance footage in the area and seek information from potential witnesses. 

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the victim’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim, seeking compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and emotional suffering.
