Woman Killed, Child and Passenger Injured in Suspected Red-Light Crash in Rosemont

Sacramento County, CA (June 16, 2025) — A woman was killed and two passengers, including a child, were injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash in the Rosemont area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: The collision occurred around 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of South Watt Avenue and Kiefer Boulevard. According to CHP, a man driving a Lexus sedan was headed southbound on Watt Avenue. At the same time, a woman driving an Infiniti sedan, with a male passenger and a child, was traveling eastbound on Kiefer Boulevard.

Authorities say one of the vehicles ran a red light, but it is not yet known which driver failed to yield. The Infiniti’s driver was transported to a hospital with significant injuries and later died. Her male passenger sustained moderate injuries, while the child was treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Lexus was uninjured.

It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to establish the sequence of events. Investigators will rely on eyewitness accounts, vehicle data, and any available traffic or surveillance cameras to determine which vehicle had the right of way.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the surviving occupants of the Infiniti, including the injured child’s family and the deceased woman’s estate, may have grounds to file personal injury and wrongful death claims. These claims can help cover funeral costs, medical expenses, and compensation for the emotional and financial toll on surviving loved ones.

My thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and with those recovering.
