Orono, ME (June 2, 2025) — A woman was hospitalized Monday after her SUV was struck by a tractor-trailer and pushed into a tree along Interstate 95 near mile marker 190, according to Maine State Police.
Incident Details: The crash occurred on the southbound side of I-95 in Orono. Authorities say a tractor-trailer collided with an SUV, causing the smaller vehicle to veer off the roadway and strike a tree. The woman driving the SUV was trapped inside and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was transported to a hospital in Bangor with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured and further details have not yet been released.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash and will likely examine whether the truck driver was following too closely, changing lanes unsafely, or failing to yield the right of way. Roadway conditions, vehicle speed, and visibility will also be relevant factors in determining fault.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the injured SUV driver may have grounds for a personal injury claim to seek compensation for medical costs, pain and suffering, and other damages.
I wish the injured woman a full and swift recovery.
