Whitfield County, GA (May 13, 2025) – William West was one of three individuals tragically killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in Northwest Georgia. The crash also left two others injured.
Incident Details: The crash occurred Monday afternoon, May 13, on southbound I-75 near mile marker 336 in Whitfield County. According to Georgia State Patrol, traffic had slowed due to road conditions when a tractor-trailer failed to stop in time and plowed into four passenger vehicles. The violent impact caused a Ford Ranger, occupied by William West and another victim, Christopher Powell, to be crushed. Both men died at the scene. Another victim, 68-year-old Manuel Mijango, was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Two additional people sustained injuries and were hospitalized.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Authorities are evaluating whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the truck driver’s failure to stop. As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
