Wexford County, MI (March 18, 2025) – William Troy Bolin, 56, of Mancelona was killed in a crash Tuesday morning on US-131 at East County Line Road after a semi-truck crossed the centerline and collided with his pickup truck.
Incident Details: According to Wexford County deputies, the crash occurred at 8:55 a.m. when a northbound semi-truck veered into the southbound lanes and struck Bolin’s pickup truck, which was pulling a trailer. Bolin was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released information about the driver of the semi-truck.
The accident resulted in significant road closures, with southbound traffic rerouted to M-113 and eastbound traffic diverted to East County Line Road. Northbound drivers were advised to use Manton Exit 191 and alternate routes. The roadway remained closed until approximately 5:30 p.m. as emergency responders worked the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will likely examine whether driver fatigue, distraction, or a mechanical failure caused the semi-truck to cross the centerline. If negligence played a role, Bolin’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for their loss. Additionally, if improper truck maintenance or company policies contributed to the crash, liability could extend to the trucking company.
My deepest condolences go out to the family of William Troy Bolin.
