September 12, 2025 — WEST LOS ANGELES — A two-vehicle collision on the southbound 405 Freeway Friday afternoon claimed the life of one person and left another hospitalized.
Incident details: According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 2 p.m. near the Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp in the Brentwood area, close to Skirball Center Drive. Responding officers diverted traffic while emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department worked to assist the victims. Authorities confirmed that an 84-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while an 86-year-old man was transported to the hospital in grave condition. Video from the scene showed patrol units securing the crash site and directing drivers away from the blocked lanes. The collision created significant delays along one of Southern California’s busiest freeways.
