Two Truck Drivers Injured in Semi Collision on I-94 in Minnesota

Otter Tail County, MN (June 4, 2025) — Two semi-truck drivers were injured Wednesday after their rigs collided on westbound Interstate 94, causing one truck to veer off a bridge embankment, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Incident Details: The crash occurred on June 4, 2025, on I-94 in Otter Tail County. Authorities say both trucks, a 2026 Kenworth and a 1996 Freightliner, were traveling westbound when they collided. The impact forced the Kenworth off the roadway and over a bridge embankment.

The driver of the Kenworth, 53-year-old Eric Watson of Forest Lake, was transported to Lake Region Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Freightliner’s driver, 21-year-old Brennen Volkmann of Henning, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Freightliner was unharmed. Emergency responders from Ottertail County, Rothsay Fire and Rescue, and Ringdahl Ambulance provided assistance at the scene.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: As the investigation continues, investigators will examine driver behavior, vehicle maintenance, lane positioning, and whether either truck violated hours-of-service regulations or followed too closely. The involvement of two semis traveling in the same direction raises questions about safe passing and situational awareness.

Depending on the investigation’s findings, the injured parties may pursue personal injury claims to recover the cost of their medical care and rehabilitation, lost wages, and emotional distress.

I wish both drivers a full and swift recovery.
